A message to our guests about the Coronavirus from Brad Lindner, CEO of United Dairy Farmers

Thursday, April 9, 2020

To our Guests:

I want to say thank you for the continued trust you place in us and our team every time you visit our stores or purchase our products. Each day, we learn more information about COVID19 and how to prevent its spread. Our intent is to provide a safe environment for all our guests and associates. Below are some additional changes we have recently made that are important for you to know. But first, I want to share some things about the associates who work for us.

I can’t say enough about our associates and their hard work during this disruptive time. I want to personally thank them for their contributions during this unique set of circumstances. Just like many of you, they have had personal or family related challenges caused by this pandemic, but continue to come into work with an authentic concern for each of you as our guests. We have put together a special recognition bonus to our store frontline associates and are providing additional benefits to many other areas of our business, as well.

In closing, We will continue to provide you updates as we deal with this issue together.

Sincerely,

Brad Lindner,
President & CEO

Enhanced Safety Measures

State of Ohio Required Limits on Guests in our Stores

In compliance with the directive issued by the Board of Health for the State of Ohio issued we will place limits on the number of customers allowed into our retail locations at any one time.

In Ohio stores, you will see the maximum occupancy signs listed on our front doors.

Store associates will be monitoring how many guests are in a store at any one time.

If a store reaches its maximum allowed occupancy, our associates may ask you to wait outside of the store.

Social Distancing

We support social distancing to keep you and our associates safe. At times, we may offer some additional gentle reminders while in our stores.

You will see visual markers (floor tape) in all UDF stores to provide some direction and reminders for how you should practice social distancing. Specifically, you will find these reminders at our check-out counter, coffee preparation area and our hand-dipped ice cream service counter.

We have begun installation of Plexi-glass guest shields at the stores’ counters. These facilitate social distancing and provide protection from airborne transmission of COVID19.

Wearing Masks in our Stores

Recently, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) announced a recommendation for the general public to voluntarily wear masks while in public. We support this new recommendation and you are welcome to wear protective face masks while visiting our stores.

We ask for your understanding as we are also held responsible for age verification when selling tobacco and alcohol. Thus, our store associates may ask for your ID, and may also ask you to momentarily remove or pull down your mask, to allow us to verify your identity and ability to purchase these products.

Help for our Elderly Guests or those Needing Additional Assistance

For our elderly guests or for those needing additional assistance, please ask one of our associates to help.

Keep in mind that most of our gas pumps have a “help” button you can press and our store associates will reply to help with your gas needs.

Recognition and Assistance for our Associates

In recognition we have implemented a special bonus for our frontline associates in our stores.

For our associate safety, we will begin to provide gloves and masks across our entire business soon, once supplies become more readily available.

A message to our guests about the Coronavirus

From Brad Lindner, CEO of United Dairy Farmers

Friday, March 20, 2020

To our Guests:

As you know, the novel Coronavirus COVID-19 has started to significantly impact our daily lives. At UDF, we place an important emphasis on being a trusted neighbor in the communities in which we operate. I wanted to share with you some of the actions we are taking to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus as well as keep you and our associates safe.

Enhanced Cleaning

For the locations you visit on a daily basis, each store has a rigorous quality assurance process that has been in place for over 40 years. Included in this process are specific tasks for our associates related to the safety, sanitation and cleanliness of our stores and products. Given the impact of the Coronavirus, we have increased the amount of internal cleaning done at our locations with a specific focus on counters, faucets, door knobs, fuel dispensers, and high traffic areas. We continue to leverage regular updates from the CDC and State health departments for ongoing guidance on cleaning processes and procedures for businesses.

When supplies become readily available, we will begin to include hand sanitizer at all locations for guest use. Hand sanitizers would be located at our checkout counter and food preparation areas. In addition, we will also begin to install hand sanitizer dispensers at our fuel dispensers for your use.

Food Preparation & Production

You’ve come to trust us for the quality and safety of our products. Whether our heritage in ice cream or our new line of donuts from our family bakery. We continue to operate all of our food production facilities under strong health and safety practices. Each of our food production facilities go through a daily cleaning and sanitation throughout the day as well as in-depth cleaning after the production runs for the day. Our associates have been informed to stay home if sick as to not risk contamination whether in our stores, our manufacturing plant or bakery.

Help for our Associates

As an operator of convenience stores, we are in business to serve you as our guests. We also place the safety and health of our associates as a top priority. To assist our associates in managing through issues which may arise during this time period, we have created new additional short term pay and benefits offerings. We want to assist our team members in potential hardships caused by the Coronavirus.

Transparency in our Communications

Our response plans include communication to you via our website, the UDF app and emails/messages similar to this one. We commit to keep you informed of updates that impact our operations which in turn impact you. If you have any questions, you may always contact our Guest Relations team at 1-800-833-9911 or speak with us via our social media presence on Facebook. Each day, we learn more information about the Coronavirus and how to prevent its spread. Our intent is to provide a safe environment for all our guests and associates. We will continue to provide you updates as we deal with this issue together.

Sincerely,

Brad Lindner,
President & CEO
