United Dairy Farmers has a variety of opportunities available, both full- and part-time, from entry level to management.  We are looking for friendly people to work in our over 200 neighborhood convenience stores.  All candidates must be 16 years of age or older, responsible, hard working, and possess the willingness to provide outstanding customer service.  They must enjoy working with people and be committed to quality in all aspects of their work.

UDF store employees receive weekly paychecks and paid training.  Medical insurance is available from the first day of employment with additional medical, dental and vision insurance available upon qualification.  Other benefits for qualified employees include paid vacation, company paid life and disability insurance, 401(k) savings plan with company matching funds and the availability of credit union membership.

STORE MANAGER

Responsibilities:  UDF Store Managers are responsible for the complete operation of their store.  Supported by their District Supervisors, they hire, train, and manage their employees to maintain outstanding store conditions, with the goal of assuring excellent customer service.  If that goal is not met to a customer’s satisfaction, they also help resolve customer complaints.  Among other activities, Store Managers order and manage their store’s inventory, interacting with UDF’s marketing and ordering departments as well as with outside vendors.  They also are responsible for banking including preparing and making deposits.   
Hours:  Store Managers are scheduled to work 45 hours per week. This includes five nine-hour shifts.  They are scheduled to work 4 first shifts and 1 second shift each week and are scheduled to work 2 weekends each month.
Salary: Store Managers earn an annual salary up to $45,000 or more, with the actual amount based on their store’s prior year sales.  They are also eligible for bonuses, paid quarterly, potentially totaling $4,000 to $15,000 for the year.  The actual amount of each quarterly bonus is based on their store’s performance during that quarter.
Qualifications:   Successful candidates will have strong interpersonal, customer service and communications skills.  Prior retail management experience is important along with a high school diploma or equivalent.  They must be legally qualified under applicable state laws to conduct all sales transactions including alcohol and tobacco sales.

FIRST ASSISTANT MANAGER

Responsibilities:  The First Assistant Manager at United Dairy Farmers is a customer service specialist.  The primary responsibility of a First Assistant Manger is to assure the delivery of outstanding service to every customer, either personally or through other employees on duty during his or her shift.  This includes both direct service to customers as well as maintenance of excellent store conditions.  The First Assistant Manager serves as the main support for the Store Manager, assuring the safe and efficient operation of his or her shift while complying with all laws and regulations, and all company policies and requirements.
Hours:  First Assistant Managers are full-time employees, working 40 scheduled hours each week, consisting of four second shifts and one first shift.  They are scheduled to work two weekends a month.
Pay:  First Assistant Managers earn up to $10.50 per hour for their first 40 hours each week and up to $15.75 per hour for all overtime hours.  They are also eligible for bonuses, paid quarterly, potentially totaling $1,000 to $3,750 for the year.  The actual amount of each quarterly bonus is based on their store’s performance during that quarter.

ASSISTANT MANAGER

Responsibilities:  The primary responsibility of an Assistant Manger is to assure the delivery of outstanding service to every customer, either personally or through other employees on duty during his or her shift.  This includes both direct service to customers as well as maintenance of excellent store conditions.  The Assistant Manager assures the safe and efficient operation of his or her shift while complying with all laws and regulations, and all company policies and requirements.
Hours:  Assistant Managers are full-time employees, working 37 to 40 scheduled hours each week.  They may be scheduled on any days or shifts and will be scheduled for at least two second shifts each week.
Pay:  Assistant Managers can earn up to $9.50 per hour. 
Qualifications:  Strong customer service skills are essential.  Prior retail or service industry experience is beneficial.  Assistant Managers must be legally qualified under applicable state laws to conduct all sales transactions including alcohol and tobacco sales.

SHIFT LEADER

Responsibilities:  The primary responsibility of a Shift Leader is to assure the delivery of outstanding service to every customer during his or her shift.  This includes both direct service to customers as well as maintenance of excellent store conditions.  A Shift Leader may be assigned to assist members of management with paperwork or other specific tasks.  A Shift Leader is responsible for following company policy to ensure the safe and efficient operation of his or her shift, complying with all laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Hours:  Shift Leaders may be full-time or part-time employees.  They can be scheduled on any shift based on the needs of the store.
Pay: Shift Leaders can earn up to $9.00 per hour.
Qualifications: Strong customer service skills are essential.  Prior retail or service industry experience is beneficial.  Shift Leaders must be legally qualified under applicable state laws to conduct all sales transactions including alcohol and tobacco sales.
